Posted a clip from my performance at Diablos this week. Pretty much a dead night there only about ten people but the few that were there got pretty dialed up about my version of more human than human by white zombie. Thats the one song I do that repeatedly gets a strong response. I played Angel from Montgomery, Dear Prudence, Baby I love you and More human.
Here's a clip of Baby I love you and more human. The quality of the video is poor but the audio is OK.
The fun part is at the end a guy that really dug the white zombie song walks up and shoves a $10 bill in my hand. Now all I have to do is play like that in front of 1000 people and I'll be rolling.
I'm certain that the way that I play more human will be the key to finding success, ie and income, as a musician. Its the unique combination of my technical percussive approach with the right edginess of lyrics which gets peoples attention. Its hard to describe when a room turns on it strangely feels undeniable. If I can find 10 songs where I can get the energy that I find in more human I am pretty sure I will be on my way. Can't wait to play for a really huge pumping crowd with a tight clear and massively loud thumping bass PA system a whole set like that. Thats a goal. Ultimately for me to be really successful I will have to transform that energy from cover songs into writing originals.
